Virtual Calling Card

Now your Kall8 service doubles as a Virtual Calling Card. It’s quick and easy - just dial any one of the Voice Mail access numbers and make outbound calls before, during or after checking your voice messages. You even have the option of using your Kall8 number as your caller ID. Calls within the contiguous 48 States, Canada and close to 20 other countries around the world are only 6.9¢ per minute.

Address Lookup
Turning on Address Lookup enhances the call detail reporting tools of Kall8 by including the address of your callers, whenever it is available for a call.* This added information may be different than the Caller ID name and number because telephone service subscribers may choose anything to show as the Caller ID, whereas the address is always the information listed on the subscriber's account.

FTP Download of Recorded Calls
Now you can download your call recordings in bulk, rather than having to email them to yourself one at a time. With an FTP connection to our secure network, you have the freedom to transfer some or all of your call recordings directly to your computer.

Are there any Setup Fees or minimums?
There are no minimums. Use as much or as little as you like, and we will charge you the posted rate per-minute for each call. One-time Setup Fees, recurring Monthly Fees, and Per-Minute Charges depend on the type of Kall8 number and service you choose. All Setup and Monthly Fees are non-refundable. For complete rates information, click here.

Are there any other charges I should know about?
Kall8 charges include one-time Setup Fees, recurring Monthly Fees, and Per-Minute Charges depending on the type of Kall8 number and service you choose. All Setup and Monthly Fees are non-refundable. For complete rates information, click here. Additionally, there is a $10 charge for a declined credit card: In other words, if we try to charge your credit card for your monthly invoice amount and the authorization center declines the charge, we will assess your account a $10 fee in addition to the normal Kall8 charges. Normal federal, state, and local taxes and regulatory fees also apply. Some Kall8 features, such as Payphone Blocking, incur a $10 charge each time you enable or disable the feature. There is a $50 charge per number for transferring to another carrier within the first 12 months of Kall8 service.

How am I billed?
Kall8 provides online billing. Upon signup, your credit card will be charged the Setup Fee and the first recurring Monthly Fee. All Setup and Monthly Fees are non-refundable. For complete rates information, click here. After the first billing cycle, your card will be charged a prorated monthly fee for that part of your first month as an active account. Thereafter, it will be charged monthly for usage (see Per-Minute Charges), plus the next Monthly Fee, and any applicable taxes and government regulatory fees.

Each completed call is billed with a 60-second minimum, and then in six-second increments. Note: Because Kall8 does not get answer supervision on all calls, an unanswered call will be considered complete and billable if the caller remains on the line for 45 seconds (approximately ten rings) or more before hanging up.

How and when will I see the details of my charges?
Your Call Detail, which includes the phone numbers and names of your callers to each of your Kall8 numbers plus the number of minutes per call, is available for you to view at any time from your secure account management page. You may view Call Detail history over a date range you specify, or you may view Call Detail in real-time for call activity in the past 24 hours. Monthly Fees and applicable taxes and regulatory fees are posted monthly, as are payments. You may also view invoices and payment history online. For a $2 charge per bill, you may have paper bills mailed to you.

Can I still use Kall8 if I don't have a credit card or choose not to use one?
Yes, you can. Although credit card is the preferred method of payment, you can also choose to have a pre-paid Kall8 account and pay with either a check or wire transfer. If you choose this option, you will need to keep close watch on your account to make sure that you have enough prepayment on your account to cover the calls that you are receiving. When your prepayment amount gets low, you will need to send in additional prepayments to be applied to your account. Prepayments are applied to your account once they have cleared the bank, which takes usually about 5 business days. If your prepayment runs out, your account will automatically be disabled until you send in more funds.

Do I need to install a new telephone line for a Kall8 number?
No. There is no need to install a new or separate phone line for your Kall8 number. The Kall8 number will ring-through to any phone number you like, including your existing business line, your home phone, cell phone, etc.

Do I need to notify my regular local or long distance service to use Kall8?
No. Kall8 does not affect your current service in any way. There is no reason to notify your existing service providers.

How long does it take to set up a Kall8 number?
You should normally be able to use your Kall8 number and service immediately after completing the online application. If offline registration is required, your number will be set up within 48 business hours of receiving a copy of the registration by fax or standard mail. If you are transferring an existing toll-free number from another carrier to Kall8, it will take up to three business days before your number is set up with Kall8. Other Kall8 services, such as VoIP Termination, require up to three business days to set up; although your Kall8 number will be working during this period, calls placed to your number may not be terminated VoIP and will be charged at the higher Per-Minute rate. For complete rates information, click here.

How do I order VoIP Termination?
Complete the normal Kall8 signup process. Be sure to have your Kall8 number ringing to a standard phone number (non-VoIP phone). With your Kall8 service working, send an email to voip@kall8.com or call 1.888.321.8554 to have VoIP Termination activated on your account. Set up of VoIP Termination may take up to three business days. Although your Kall8 number will be working during this period, calls placed to your number may not be terminated VoIP and will be charged at the higher Per-Minute rate. For complete rates information, click here.

How do I change where my Kall8 number rings?
Login to your Kall8 account. On the My Account main page, your Kall8 number(s) are listed on the left; where your Kall8 number(s) ring is listed on the right. Click the number on the right to change where your Kall8 number rings. In the window that opens, type in the new number where you would like to have your Kall8 number ring. Click on the 'Submit' button, and the window will close and you will see your change reflected in real-time in your Kall8 numbers list on the My Account main page.

Is there any difference between 800, 888, 877, and 866 toll-free numbers?
No. 888, 877, and 866 toll-free numbers work the same as 800 toll-free numbers.

Can I have my Kall8 toll-free number ring another toll-free number?
Yes. You may set your Kall8 number to ring any number of any type, anywhere in the world. By default, the Kall8 service does not allow you to set a Kall8 number to ring to another Kall8 number. This is to prevent the possibility of having callers caught in an "endless loop" where their call is bounced back and forth between two Kall8 numbers that ring-to each other, and calls are never answered.

I want my Kall8 number to ring my cell phone: Will I get double-billed for that?
Kall8 only bills for the one call. Your cellular service provider may charge you for the incoming call, depending on the plan and terms of the service agreement you have with them. Check with your provider for that information.

Can I cancel my Kall8 service at any time?
Yes. With Kall8, there are no complicated long-term contracts. You may end your service at any time. Note: If you move your Kall8 number to another carrier within the first 12 months of service, there is a $50 charge per number.

I already have a toll-free number: Can I still use Kall8?
Yes. It takes only three business days to move a toll-free number from any other carrier (such as AT&T or MCI) to Kall8. In fact, most of our customers have had toll-free service with one of the major carriers and have moved their existing numbers to Kall8 in order to obtain the enhanced features and better rates offered. To 'Switch to Kall8' and keep your current number, simply complete the necessary form, which must be faxed or mailed to us. We are required to obtain the cover page of the bill for your current toll-free service. This is a requirement imposed for your protection to be sure that the person who is placing the order to switch service and move the number is the person paying the bill and is authorized to make that change.

I already have a toll-free number: Can I get a Kall8 number to ring to the same line?
Yes. Whether you move a toll-free number from another carrier or simply have multiple Kall8 numbers, they may all ring to the same number or to different numbers. Often, our customers establish separate toll-free numbers for different product lines, special advertising and promotions, fax lines, sales lines, customer service, etc. Most of our customers have several toll-free numbers and take advantage of Kall8's Added Value Service Enhancements.

How do I get my Kall8 number to follow me?
Login to your Kall8 account. On the My Account main page, your Kall8 number(s) are listed on the left. Click on the Kall8 number you want to follow you. The Kall8 number detail page will appear. Click on the Custom Routing link on the left side of the menu, and have calls ring anywhere you like - your office, your home, your cell phone, etc. - according to the location and schedule you set. You can have calls follow you by time-of-day, day(s) of the week, or the state, or area code, or partial phone number of the caller. Even custom route calls for unique callers with this comprehensive tool.

Am I charged for wrong number calls?
As with any toll-free service provider, you will be charged for all calls that you receive on your Kall8 number. If you are particularly concerned about this possibility, we recommend you choose an 888, 877, or 866 number since these toll-free area codes are newer and likely have been used by fewer owners, helping to reduce the likelihood of wrong number calls.

I receive a large volume of wrong number calls: What can be done?
Wrong number calls are caused either by people misdialing, or calling a number that was formerly used by another person or company. There are several possible solutions to alleviate a high volume of wrong number calls:
  • If you are using an 800 toll-free number, consider replacing it with an 888, 877, or 866 toll-free number. Most 800 toll-free numbers have been in service a very long time and have changed "ownership" several times. The highest incidence of wrong number calls is to 800 toll-free numbers.
  • Use the Call Blocking feature to block calls from outside the region you wish to accept calls. If you only want calls from certain geographic areas, you may have your Kall8 number only accept calls from that area. As an example, Kall8 has a customer with a toll-free number one digit off from the toll-free number for the Canadian IRS. To put an end to wrong number calls, the customer blocked his number from accepting calls from Canada.
  • Select a toll-free vanity number that spells something unique to you, such as your name or business name. The potential for people to mistakenly dial such a number is much lower. Avoid choosing a toll-free vanity number or other toll-free number with repeating letters or digits, as this will tend to undermine your efforts at reducing misdials.
  • Take advantage of a Kall8 Automated Attendant interactive voice response (IVR) system to play a greeting such as, "Thank you for calling [company]. To be connected, press 'one' now; otherwise, please hang up." This will stop wrong number callers from bothering you, as well as reduce the duration of wrong number calls, thus saving you time and expense.

Will people be able to call my Kall8 number from payphones?
Yes, you will be able to receive calls from payphones, unless you choose not to do so. You have the option of blocking your Kall8 number(s) from receiving calls from payphones. This will not only cut down on your receiving misdials and possible wrong number calls, but it will also save you the extra cost* of accepting payphone calls. There is no recurring Monthly Fee for this feature, but there is a service fee of $10 to enable or disable payphone blocking for each of your Kall8 numbers.

*What is the extra cost of accepting payphone calls?
The FCC requires that payphone owners be reimbursed for the cost of using their phones to make toll-free calls. The tarrifed rate is 50¢ per call. (This charge is per call, not per minute, and is in addition to the normal Per-Minute Charge billed by Kall8. For complete rates information, click here.)

Why would I want to receive calls from payphones?
Many of our customers have either a business that: provides emergency goods and services (such as road-side assistance, for example); operates a telephone help line; caters to the disadvantaged; or offers similar 24/7 telephone contact and support services. They, and other of our customers, also use at least one Kall8 number to keep in contact with family members and close friends. If you are considering a Kall8 number for similar reasons, especially to keep in contact with customers - or even young children - at any time, anywhere, from any phone, then the sensibility of accepting payphone calls becomes clear.

Can I get my Kall8 toll-free number listed with 800 Directory Assistance?
Kall8 does not offer toll-free Directory Assistance, nor advertising or other publishing services for your number(s).

I have employees who answer my calls assigned to different tasks or they have specialized skills (skills-based routing). So I want callers routed to the right person or I just want callers to have some control over directing their call (IVR): How do I do this with Kall8?
The Automated Attendant feature is Kall8's interactive voice response (IVR) system. With Kall8's Automated Attendant, you can accomplish skills-based routing with the IVR's push-button prompts, or simply provide callers with departmental options, such as, "Press 'one' for Sales; press 'two' for Service," etc.

Can I have more than one Kall8 number on my account but only allow my employees to see the Call Detail for the Kall8 number assigned to them?
Yes. This is accomplished using the Manage Logins feature from the My Account main page when you login to your account. There are three types of logins that you may set up:
  • Master Logins are unique logins that allow the user full access to all features and settings for their assigned numbers.
  • Location Logins permit the user only to view Call Detail (real-time and history) for locations (e.g. the ring-to number) specified for each unique login.
  • Limited Logins provide limited access to features and settings for the assigned numbers.
